DESCRIPTION
Dr Patricia Macandog graduated from RMIT University with a double degree, a Bachelor of Health Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy), and has built her practice around one simple idea: helping people get back to doing what they love. That might mean returning to sport, getting through a workday without discomfort, or simply moving through daily life without pain holding them back. She works collaboratively with each patient, building treatment plans around what that person actually needs rather than running everyone through the same process.
Patricia particularly enjoys treating lower back pain, neck pain, knee injuries and sporting injuries, and she’s developed a strong interest in occupational presentations, including ergonomic assessments for people whose pain is tied to how they work day to day.
Hypermobility is an area where Patricia brings something a little different: she’s hypermobile herself. That lived experience gives her a genuine understanding of how hypermobile bodies respond to load, movement and treatment, and she’s built a focus around creating rehabilitation strategies that are safe and effective for people navigating the same thing.
In the treatment room, Patricia combines hands-on techniques with active rehabilitation. She draws on soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation, dry needling and cupping, and holds a qualification in Clinical Pilates, which she regularly works into rehab programs to help patients build strength and stay well over the long run.
Outside the clinic, movement is just as much a part of Patricia’s life as it is her profession. She plays basketball, runs, boulders, hikes, cycles, and has picked up both pickleball and badminton along the way. That love of moving in as many forms as possible shapes how she encourages her own patients: she believes there’s a place for movement, in whatever form suits the person, in everyday life.
