Telehealth: Why it’s here to stay!

Telehealth Osteo and Physio

During the pandemic in 2020, the rise of online appointments in healthcare has been phenomenal! Telehealth is the future of healthcare and at Alpha Sports Medicine, it’s here to stay!

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is healthcare online. It involves a one on one appointment with your healthcare provider to assess your needs from the comfort of your own home.

How does Telehealth work?

Your Osteo or Physio will arrange an appointment time, and via video link will connect with you to address your concerns. No matter what your pain, your practitioner can diagnose you using movement screening. Once you have a correct diagnosis, your practitioner will guide you through some active therapy and provide you with all the tools from home to manage your pain.

How can Telehealth help when there’s no “hands on”?

The beauty of Telehealth is being able to really listen to a patients concerns and provide at home management advice, getting you moving doing stretches or by using tools like a foam roller or spike ball. Most importantly, your Osteo or Physio can prescribe you specific exercise rehab that will provide long term changes to your body! Exercise rehabilitation is the most evidence based form of therapy, so with the right exercises you can overcome your pain and get back to doing the things you love.

Why is Telehealth here to stay?

With Telehealth, the expert services of Alpha Sports Medicine can be spread far beyond the Newport area. So looking into the future, regardless of any future disruptions with the COVID pandemic, or any future disruptions, we can continue to provide the best care, support and advice to our patients.
