Get the support you need to help your body heal and perform at its best.

What to expect in your first Physiotherapy appointment

We need to know about you before we start any treatments so we can make sure we are supporting you as best we can. When you arrive, we’ll ask you to complete a short form and then you’ll go into your appointment with your Physiotherapist.

We’ll start by getting to know you better. We’ll ask a few questions and review your medical history. This information will help us understand who you are, your goals and your circumstances to help us identify what could be causing your pain or injury and determine the best way to treat it.

From here, we’ll explain your diagnosis and treatment plan and treat you. Your treatment may include soft tissue massage, stretching, mobilising joints and exercise. Our Physios may also use dry needling or ultra sound therapy.

We may also send you home with a series of home exercises to help you strengthen or mobilise a certain area of your body. These physiotherapy exercises will help you take control of your pain.

Yes. Physiotherapists are registered healthcare practitioners and most health funds will have rebates available for Physio. Check with your own private health fund prior to your appointment to confirm.

Physiotherapy and Osteopathy are closely related. Both are AHPRA accredited Allied Health practitioners and both study for at least 3 years to get their qualifications. The conditions we treat are similar too. However, there is a difference in the approach we take to helping you heal and recover. A Physiotherapist will focus on movement and function, while an Osteopath will focus on the entire musculoskeletal system as a whole. Here at ALPHA, we work as a team to get the best outcomes we can for you.

The Physio consults at Alpha are thorough and a first appointment will run for 45 minutes. Our Physio team work closely with our Osteopaths and approach the body in a holistic way. We use a variety of techniques to help you feel your best. We are the experienced Physio near you.

Myotherapy FAQs

Our Myotherapy is suitable for most people, including athletes, office workers, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic pain conditions. However, certain medical conditions or contraindications may affect eligibility for treatment. Our Maidstone Myotherapist at Alpha Sports will assess your suitability during your initial consultation.

Myotherapy sessions may incorporate various manual therapy techniques, including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, cupping therapy, dry needling, and corrective exercises. These techniques are tailored to address individual needs and goals.

Myotherapy can effectively treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions, including neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, headaches, sports injuries, tendonitis, and postural imbalances. It can also help manage chronic pain conditions and improve overall mobility and function.

While both massage therapy and myotherapy involve manual techniques to address musculoskeletal issues, myotherapy typically employs a more clinical approach. Myotherapy integrates advanced assessment skills and a broader range of therapeutic techniques, such as trigger point therapy, dry needling, and exercise prescription, to target specific musculoskeletal conditions and provide long-term relief.
