Sports Osteopathy
What is Sports Therapy?
Sports Therapy focuses on the assessment, treatment, and prevention of injuries that arise from physical activity. It combines a variety of evidence-based techniques — such as soft tissue therapy, stretching, exercise prescription, joint mobilisation, and rehabilitation strategies — to restore function and optimise movement.
Our approach is individualised: every program is tailored to your sport, training load, and personal health needs.

Personalised Approach
No two bodies or sporting goals are the same. That’s why our team takes the time to understand your health history, your sport, and your aspirations before creating a treatment plan. Through detailed assessments and one-on-one care, we identify the root cause of your issue and design a program tailored to your specific needs, rather than a one-size-fits-all template. This personalised care ensures you get targeted results, whether you’re aiming to recover from injury, increase strength and flexibility, or enhance your sporting performance.

Sports Therapy FAQs
How does sports therapy differ from regular physiotherapy?
While both aim to restore function and reduce pain, sports therapy places particular emphasis on the needs of physically active individuals. It considers sport-specific demands, biomechanics, and training loads when designing treatment and recovery plans.
What conditions can sports therapy treat?
Sports therapy can help with sprains, strains, tendon and ligament injuries, muscle imbalances, and overuse issues. It also supports post-surgical rehabilitation and long-term injury prevention.
Can sports therapy help prevent injuries?
Yes. By analysing movement patterns and identifying weaknesses or imbalances, sports therapy can provide targeted programs that reduce risk and build resilience.
What techniques are used?
Sessions may include soft tissue therapy, stretching, joint mobilisation, myofascial release, or corrective exercise programs depending on your needs and goals.
Is sports therapy suitable for non-athletes?
Absolutely. You don’t need to be a professional athlete to benefit. Sports therapy is for anyone who wants to stay active, recover from injury, or manage musculoskeletal pain related to sport, work, or daily life.
FAQs
Yes. You can use your private health at our clinic when doing an exercise rehab session with one of our Osteos or Physios at Alpha Sports Medicine.
Physiotherapy and Osteopathy are closely related. Both are AHPRA accredited Allied Health practitioners and both study for at least 3 years to get their qualifications. The conditions we treat are similar too. However, there is a difference in the approach we take to helping you heal and recover. A Physiotherapist will focus on movement and function, while an Osteopath will focus on the entire musculoskeletal system as a whole. Here at ALPHA, we work as a team to get the best outcomes we can for you.
